Genuine
We select only what holds up to scrutiny, and we take the time to understand it before we ever try to sell it. If we cannot stand behind the maker, we do not carry the product.
About Us
Only Genuine Japan exists to bring the real value of Japan to the world. Matcha and wagyu, sake and craft, travel and the culture of the regions — much of what makes this country remarkable has still never properly left it. Why we do this sets out the conviction underneath it.
What we handle is never merely product. It is the philosophy of the person who made it, the culture rooted in the place it came from, and an experience a visitor cannot help but tell someone about. We refine all of it into a form that travels — without thinning what made it worth carrying.
Not an export business.
A translation of value.
We work with producers, regional brands and operators who have something genuine, and with partners abroad who want more than a souvenir version of Japan.
We select only what holds up to scrutiny, and we take the time to understand it before we ever try to sell it. If we cannot stand behind the maker, we do not carry the product.
We rebuild the words, the presentation and the buying journey so they land in English — not translated, rewritten. What persuades in Japan rarely persuades unchanged abroad.
We create rooms where people actually meet, taste and talk — and carry Japan outward on their own. Demand built in person is more durable than demand bought with advertising.
Representative Director, Outgrow Japan Inc.
He founded Outgrow Japan in November 2012 around a single conviction — prove your possibility — and built the company on a method of selling that does not push. Education came first: corporate sales training, and later LIBERTY, an online school launched in 2020 for people who want to change how they work.
The export business grew out of that. Excellent Japanese products were losing their domestic market while remaining unknown abroad, and the makers were losing their successors. In 2023 the company took matcha to JAPAN Fes New York and sold it directly to New Yorkers — with students from the school running the stand — to learn what actually sells before building a business on assumptions.
That is the role he plays for a Country Partner: the Japan side. Producer relationships held in Japanese, the marketing discipline of testing before scaling, and a company that has already stood behind a table overseas and watched people decide.
